Subject: DV+ doing some pre-pro music?

Hello all the imac mac computerrers!

Im the New noob in here. Or let`s one of em hehehe. 22year old student from belgium. Anyway I`m on the verge of buying A 450mhz DV+ sage, original hard drive
20gb, 512 RAM which I`m being offered for about 340 euros. I am almost shure that this is a good deal, but I`d like to be 100% sure you know, so I figured a great
deal of you guys know what I might be going through ... if ever :-)
Anyway I want to use the imac mainly for making demo`s for my band since I write a lot of material in my house, but have a hard time getting it all in the rehearsal room
since we have so little time together. Anyway i play the guitar and I would like to do mainly guitar&drumeditiing to work out the basics, but eventually bass, vocals and
leads might be handy to record as well as i can bring my imac to the rehearsal room every now and then to do some pre-pro before we hit the studio again. My
question is: Is the DV+ gonna do the job if i wanna do pre-pro for my entire band (including the real drums, 4 mics max). Of course we`re talking about G3 imacs, so
I`m not expecting any live recording for the entire band.
Now more questions: Is there someone who does similar kind of stuff? and if not is it because my prepro ambition is wishful thinking on this machine? I figured
metro would do the job, or even Pro Tools Free. How about garageband? Will it run on the DV+ in the first place (yes i am willing to upgrade RAM+HD and burning
hardware, or better: Im gonna :-D).

Garage Band requires a 600mhz G3 or better, and at least a G4 for software instruments. I can say that four loops is about the max on a 500mhz G4 PowerBook, it starts to break down after that. I haven't tried it on my 800mhz FP iMac yet. I have a friend that uses Cubase on a 400mhz Pismo Powerbook, so something like that should work on a 450 iMac.
