Ok, does anyone know what it costs to replace the airport card socket on an original G4 FP iMac? I went to install an Airport card and it didn't seat all the way on one side. After trying different ways of starting the card, I discovered that one pin was slightly bent. I've had this iMac for two years now so if it costs too much, I'll just buy a new one with EVERYTHING already installed. Of course the computer works fine without the card.
One of my deepest regrets about my love affair with macs is the pain in the @#$ of installing a wireless card.
Sorry this happened to you.
Thanks, Donald. I probably could have straightened the pin eventually, but when trying to seat the card. the bent pin or another one was pushed out the back of the connector. What would make it easier to install is a colored dot on one end of the connector and a corresponding dot on the card. I saw a picture that showed the card installed label side up yet my socket required the label to be down.
