Assuming you are using Microsoft Word on your eMac, the file format is identical to that used by Windows Word versions. Some windows versions, however; cannot detect the word format without the correct file name extension - .doc. To add this to your documents choose File, Save as, Enter the name of the document and then click on the "Extend file extension" box. This will add the .doc extension to your file name and your recipients should be able to open the document.

Thanks - but they acquire the .doc extension automatically when attached....I see that I can check Hide extension (on my system it is this, not Extend Filke Extension) and uncheck, and the .doc comes on and off its name...but when it gets to be part of the email, it takes on the .doc.
But next time I do it, I will put .doc on 'at source' in the way you suggest and see if it works, thanks again!
