Sure ya can, Jim, as long as the new Mac has FireWire, which is quite likely.


The internal drive is an IDE drive, not firewire.

Yep, the iMac drive is IDE and it's going into an external case that provides a bridge between the IDE interface and the FireWire bus, so it can be connected to a FireWire port. You can also get external enclosures that provide a USB connection, or combo FW/USB.
