I've read but never had a need to verify you can replace the internal cable with another to support 2 drives. There is certainly space to somehow fit 2 2.5" drives in place of a single 3.5", but you would also need 2 2.5" to 3.5" interface adaptors and a power splitter to feed each adapter, and also some way of mounting them would need to be designed. Another problem is the 'off the shelf' PC style IDE lead is rather long, and unless you made up a custom one it would bunch up in the iMac, perhaps taking up more space than it's worth. 2.5" drives use +5V only and draw very little power, no problem there, but taking into account all the extra cabling and adaptors, this takes up more space than the drives. At the end of the day, is it really worth trying to fit 2 2.5" drives in the iMac when a single large capacity drive is so cheap?
