I've noticed the last three days that if I go to Apple's web
site, it takes on the order of minutes to open a page. And
that's on 256K DSL. Have they added something especially
obnoxious, or is it just me?

Don't know about adding but I have been trying unsuccessfully to download educational price lists from the Apple Canada site since January. Panther's pdf. download chokes on it. I 've written them, using the crash report feature, but nothing has changed.
Very strange when a company's most recent software won't play nicely with their own website.
