Can anyone tell me if a PC USB keyboard will work on an iMac?
Although I haven't personally tried it (yet), from what I understand, yes, they work just fine.
The catch is, there is no power key, and no command key (cloverleaf/apple
key). I don't know if the Windows key maps the same as the command key or
not.
Every one that I've tried, it does.
A small drawback though, is that unless it has Mac-specific drivers, you can't re-map the keys, and thus, you end up with the Command and Option keys opposite of where they would be on a true Mac keyboard. I haven't tried installing the Microsoft keyboard drivers for my non-Microsoft keyboard, but there's a chance they might just work.
The USB keyboard that I use on my iMac, is an oddball Dell model KU-0170. What's odd yet neat about this particular model, is that it has an integrated PS/2 port, allowing you to use normally PC-only mice with your Mac. A drawback (for some people) is that the keyboard has no USB ports built into it.
