My iMac 233 rev A suddenly shut itself down yesterday afternoon and it won't restart again until after a few minutes rest. Then when it does start up, the video fluctuates between normal and skinny and after a minute or two shuts down again.
I hooked a up a monitor to the internal monitor port and the Video looks great, but the iMac shuts down again after a few minutes.
From what I find on the web, the the shutting down with the internal monitor is usually the flyback transformer, but shutting down with the external monitor isn't mentioned anywhere and to me suggests something more. I would like to try and replace the parts from ebay to keep the iMac running. Does anybody have any ideas.
Oh yeah one more thing just yesterday morning I ran Disk Warrior, I wonder if that's just a coincidence.
I also checked the battery (it's OK) and reset the PRAM and even the CUDA, no difference.
