I bought a refurbished eMac last fall and wonder if it is a good idea to buy the Apple Care to give two more years of coverage. Would that be a wise or necessary investment?
I tend to get AppleCare for machines I don't feel comfortable working on myself, or that have really expensive parts in them. Thus I did get it on my iMac G4 on the principle that they are based mostly on laptop style boards and both the logic board and the LCD panel would be considerably more expensive that I could afford should a replacement be needed. I plan on keeping the machine for as long as I can anyway, because I really like it and it's a pretty iconic Apple design. Were I buying a refurb I'd make doubly sure I bought it this time around as the last one I bought, a G3/300 iBook, died a year or so after I got it and only had a 6 month warranty.
