Ahh - it's only for trackballs, joysticks and gamepad thingees, none of
which I need or use. I was hoping that maybe it would work with external CD
burners and other such things that Apple failed to provide any support for
in OS X. Thanks for the link!

There is support for a lot of CD burners in OS X. If you have one that isn't supported, Toast will recognize nearly anything, or you can try Patchburn to modify the support file(s) native to the OS.
