imac bondi 233 and memory upgrade

I have an imac bondi....233mhz rev.B and would like to put a 128 low 
profile memory in the bottom and a 256 in the top. However I have heard 
the 256 must have 8 chips on each side (to be recognized properly) , 
does anyone know if there is any truth to this?
