I'm moving over to Macs and want to use my iMac for web browsing. I'm running Mac OS 9.2. I went through the Internet Setup Assistant and entered the dial up number, but when it came to the Remote Password dialog I left this blank as I don't use my iMac to remotely administer any other machine (I'm assuming this is what is meant by Remote Access). The iMac modem dialed the number, but I got a message saying there was a problem connecting to the internet. I wondered if the Mac needed my city/area code as well and wanted to try adding it, but I can't find the panel to let me edit the phone number. Where do I find the dial up number so I can change it, as I've looked in the Modem and Internet control panels but none of them display the number I entered for my ISP? Does the internet Service Provider have to be Mac friendly? Do I need a special script from my ISP to get on the net with a Mac? How do I delete the Internet setup I've created as there seems to be no option to do this? How do I amend an existing internet setup so I can alter my ISP user name and Password, dial up phone number and email address POP and SMTP? If I am supposed to use the Remote Access passowrd box, what password do I put in there? The same one as for my ISP? or is this a different password the Mac uses to add an extra level of security? So far it is easier to use the PC for the net, as the Mac seems to hide the very thing I want to change and the Help System is does not show me how to edit the phone number etc. Thanks In Advance Pete
