Sounds like it's a Master/Slave issue. There is only room for one HD in your iMac and that must be a Master device in order to boot.
I would have expected there to be jumper setting diagrams displayed on the back of the Hard drvie as 80GB is fairly recent. Software installs but computer will not boot from the HD. It just dawned on me that the problem might be that the HD is set as "Slave". I bought this drive in Florida and installed and formatted it as a second drive in a G3 Mini Tower. I removed the drive when I came north and installed it in the iMac. Drive worked perfectly in the G3. Is the Slave Setting likely to be my problem? Does anyone know the correct Pin Setting to change this drive to a Master. Thanks for any help.
