I have a 500Mhz iMac 20G HD slot load CD-R I just recently had problems
with recording CD's so I purchased a LaCie dvd +-rw external Firewire drive
which works well.....
That's basically what I did too. Works fine thanks to Patchburn II (which enables the "iApps" to see it).
I have also just received OS X 10.2.4 which I purchased on e-Bay ....
however it says on the disc eMac ....... is this version alright to use on
my Mac??
I wouldn't worry about "problems" -- it will either just tell you early on "can't use this with this machine" or it will work fine. I suspect the former rather than the latter.
This seems a good opportunity to remind members of this list that going through Ebay is probably NOT the best way to obtain OS upgrades, exactly because of problems/issues/gotchas like the one Gaston experienced. He may very well now be stuck with a "useless" (to him) OS X disc (that's probably only an upgrade from 10.2 or 10.1 anyway) and out some funds.
A quick look around shows that Megamacs.com is selling Panther for $69, Jag for $39. Others have it available as well. Know what you are buying.
