Problems with silver faced blank DVDs

I have an IMac 17" 800 mghz with a a superdrive. When I record white 
faced dvd's I have no problem playing them back but when I use silver 
faced (brand doesn't seem to matter) I can't play them back on the Mac. 
They playback fine on my standalone DVD player so I know their 
recording. Using Toast Titanium 5.2.3 to record. Thanks in advance.
