I made a movie in iMovie (latest version) and finished
it up nice as pie. I then went into the finder and
dragged it (xyz.mov) to the iDisk "Public" folder icon
on my desktop and it spent some time "uploading". It
shows up in the Public folder and will play fine if I
access the site from my Mac. (I cleared the cache so
I do not think it is reading from cache.) However
when I access the same URL from the PC, it comes down
as a broken movie despite loading the latest PC
version of Quicktime.
So then I opened the file (from the hard drive) in the
QT player on my Mac and it played fine. I used the
export command from Quicktime and exported it to my
iDisk and Voila! it plays fine when I access it from
the PC.
Is there any rhyme or reason to this? More of a
theoretical concern than anything else since I got the
results I wanted. I guess I have been spoiled by drag
and drop anywhere/anytime on the Mac so I wanted to
further my understanding.
Thanks, John
