I have a Rev A iMac I'm attempting to get OS X Server installed on so I can use it as a test server.
The iMac has a dead CD drive, so I can't boot from the original CD drive. I have been successful booting from a generic IDE CD Drive by connecting it inline with the hard drive, and setting the CD as master. The Rev A iMac appears to only boot from Master devices, not slaves. That brings me to my problem. I want to install OS X Server on the hard drive that is currently set as Slave. Once the install is complete, I can swap the Hard Drive back to Master and set the CD as Slave. HOWEVER, the OS X installer won't let me install on a non bootable hard drive, and as long as the drive is set as Slave, it considers it non bootable. Does anyone know of a way to force OS X to install on a non bootable drive? -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
