ViaVoice for Mac OS X *requires* a digital USB Mic.  The internal Mic
isn't high-enough quality for very accurate speech recognition because it
pics up the minute vibratrions from the HDD and a lot of background sounds
whereas a USB headset would most accurately capture your voice.

I use ViaVoice and was put off at first by the requirement of buying a
headset but after I got used to it I realized that using the digital
connection was the best way to approach it.  A good headset also has much
better sound than using the mini-plug jack on the Mac...
