If you're using OS 9, pull up Apple System Profiler under the Apple icon in
the upper LH side of your screen. You'll find it there.

Another method in OS9 is a program called "TattleTech" which is available at versiontracker.com
You have to enter your machine's serial number when you open TattleTech and then it will give you the date of manufacture. This program was no longer being updated after June 2002, so a Mac built after that date wouldn't be identified.
