But you can find a clue that may help. Going to Apple System Profiler, the "applications" tab, I checked the Fax info., and it showed it was manufactured in Jan. 2000, right before I bought the unit. If you want to try that with your iMac, it may help resolve the matter. As to the serial number, I haven't a clue whether that ties into the date the machine was made. Sorry I can't be of more help.
