I'm not knocking Hamrick's work but realize that you can buy a scanner for that price. So for the same price you get a newer scanner, can keep your older scanner for an older machine (or give away) and have scanner software that is supported by the manufacturer. As someone else suggested on this thread, avoid UMax since they are avoiding supporting the Mac.
