That's correct. The new WiMP 9 codec is incompatible with WiMP 7 (and 
OS 9 for that matter).

Anyway to port the codecs for media 9 into 7?

Sorry. I think your options are as follows:
1. See if the stream will play in the latest version of WiMP for OS X.
2. See if the stream will play in the latest version of VLC (OS X only).
3. Watch it on a friend's PC.
