Sarcasm, can be portrayed through writing just as easily as speech. And you'll agree with me on that point or I'll start a never ending flow of "your Momma" jokes such as the world has never seen.
I'm sure there are ways but I haven't found a decent one as of yet so I try to avoid sarcasm wherever possible. :-)
Oh and by the way, in saying "your" you seem to be using proper english, but you finish it off with "momma" which isn't. I think in this circumstance you should either use proper english consistently, ie: "your mother" (which, in this case, wouldn't have served the purpose properly) or non-proper english (for want of a better name for it), ie: "yo'r momma". Of course it goes without saying that a hand gesture is required and needs to begin roughly on the word "yo" and end half way through "momma", however these are just guidelines and can be altered to taste. They also do not apply in emails and I threw that in for purely educational purposes. Please see Chapter Eight, "Hand gestures and where they fit into daily speech" in my book "Speaking proper english and annoying the hell out of everyone who doesn't in the process" for more information.
I would, at this juncture, like to point out that this thread began as "Mac OS 9 Colours" (Well done to whoever started it for the correct spelling of colours.) it then turned into yet another discussion about Software Piracy and now has turned into a discussion about sarcasm, partly my fault but none the less true.
Ok class, in tomorrows lesson we will be covering "Using incredulously long words in the hope that your opponent will get so confused that they surrender and give you what you want to make you go away".
