Does it really not eject, or does it do the typical slot drive problem of 
not gripping the disc firm so it tries but the disc doesn't get all the 
way out.

If it is the latter, you can look to see if it gets far enough to grab 
with the tips of your fingers. Mine is like that. Only about 1/8 to 1/4 
inch of the disc comes out of the drive, but it is just enough that I can 
snag it with my finger tips and pull it the rest of the way out. Once in 
a while, I don't get a grip fast enough and the drive sucks it back in. A 
2nd try will usually get the disc out.

I was trying something similar the other day because I didn't have a 
bootable CD drive to install Panther from. I couldn't come up with any 
way to install over the network, because the first step in the install 
process is it reboots from the disc. So any network or anything other 
than a non bootable CD or DVD drive would fail.

I'm very interested to hear if anyone does know of a way to get around 
that and install over a network, or from a non bootable drive.
