Today, rather than going through iTunes, my son opened the Music folder from the Finder window. From there, he went to iTunes > iTunes Music. We tried to connect by crossover cable, but I was so paranoid of messing something up two days before going out of town that I was leary of his changing IP addresses, computer names, etc. However, I thought that since he found the files to the songs, we could possibly move them as files. (Excuse me if this is a no-brainer to most of you.) I dragged the folders onto my FireWire external HD and copied them there. Then I plugged the same FW HD to the Powerbook and dragged them into the same Music > iTunes > iTunes folder, but when I opened iTunes, the songs didn't show up in my iTunes Library. Out of frustration, I dragged the same folders from the FW HD right onto the open iTunes window with the Library showing, and all 460 items began to fill in! They work!
Incidentally, yesterday I transferred all 760 photos using my digital camera, 60 photos at a time. I possibly could have transferred them the same way I transferred my iTunes.
