I am able to download the Java 1.4.2 update, but I am unable to install =
it. Has anyone had the same problem?
Lots and lots of people had this problem. Here's the solution:
1. Go to /Library/Receipts
2. Locate a receipt called "Java142" or similar
3. Remove it from the receipts folder (Apple says don't throw it away, though I did anyway with no ill effects)
4. Run your downloaded installer now. It will work.
5. Put the "Java142" receipt back.
