I think that was iTunes 2.0.4. Still available via Versiontracker (via Apple).
Since music I buy from the iTunes Store is in AAC format, how can I play it in an older version of iTunes that doesn't support the AAC format?
You convert it to AIFF format.
The older version is still available directly from Apple, too.
You can't just convert something from the iTunes store - message comes up saying that protected files cannot be converted to other formats. The workaround is to burn them to CD (CDRW would probably be best so it doesn't cost you a CDR) and then re-import as mp3.
Jeff, how will that work? The iTunes help instructions says to convert to AIFF before burning the cd. If I burn an AAC file to a cd, won't it just be imported in as AAC? Or since it will be iTunes 2 that will be doing the importing, just not be recognized as a file that can be imported as mp3. This is the first time I've tried this, so I need a lot of hand-holding!
