How often did you use them?  I use ink4art.com cartridges and have had 
less trouble with them than Epson's. We use our 740 almost daily. I 
always say " Epson's, use 'em or lose 'em! "

Epson's ink jets are VERY small -- smaller than HP et al... and will 
clog at
the slightest provocation. In fact, they tend to HOPELESSLY clog.

I'm only going to use the genuine Epson ink in my new printer -- it's 
just
not worth it to keep trying the shortcut, at least for me.
