Hello all!
I've got a question about my iMac G3 400 DV.
Over the past year and a half I've noticed the screen dimming somewhat. It's been very gradual but is getting quite noticeable, especially when placed next to other G3 iMacs (Bondi, etc) and even some really cheap/old PC monitors. It looks like I simply turned the brightness and contrast way down. The colors look okay just not very bright.
I've checked the Brightness and Contrast settings and they're both at max. I tried to 'calibrate' it, thinking that might be an issue. I can' calibrate it per the instructions because the monitor doesn't get bright enough to do the tests.
Has anyone had this problem before? Any solutions? Repair parts needed? Can I swap parts between this iMac and a newer G3 iMac?
I tried searching google.com with no luck and didn't find anything in the iMac List archives that talked about it.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Chris
Any CRT will get dimmer with age...Just like a CRT display TV. I wonder if someone will start selling CRT replacement LCD displays.
