I think the original 15" Flat-Panel iMacs had the options of a CD-RW, a
CD-RW/DVD combo, or a Superdrive.  All the later models just had a
CD-RW/DVD combo or Superdrive. 

Are you sure your drive isn't a DVD drive?

I didn't know that any flat-panel iMacs shipped with just CD-ROM 
drives, but I suppose you're looking at an upgrade. I believe OWC has 
some superdrives for under $100, but I'm not sure how easily a 
flat-panel iMac can be upgraded.
