Hi, we just got a cable modem and a router. I plugged the cable (from the router) into our G5 running OS X.3.5 and using System Preferences / Network / TCP/IP - choosing Built-in Ethernet then configuring to Using DHCP, I got the G5 up and running.
When I plugged another cable (from the router) into my iMac running OS 9.2.2 I could not figure out how to configure the iMac to use the cable modem, it keeps trying to use the internal modem and the phone line. Help!

In OS 9, go to Apple Menu>Control Panels>TCP/IP and choose Ethernet from the "connect via" drop down menu and Using DHCP Server from "configure". If Ethernet doesn't appear as a choice, the relevant extension(s) may have been disabled, requiring a trip to Extensions Manager and a restart.
