I have both a DVD-RW in my MDD and an external DVD+RW. I also have an iMac FP with combo drive (out of action at the moment). Which formats will the combo drive read ? DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW ?
ooo. Glad you asked. I'm so confused by this! We recently got a new PB G4 with a SuperDrive in it. Now I'm trying to share media between it, my old Mac, and two PCs. Not fun. Some things read and some don't...
If you look up the combo or superdrive explicitly on Apple's web site, you get one set of information. Then if you peruse thru the specs for YOUR specific Mac, you'll find different info!
From what I've "gathered":
* Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) is
8x DVD read
24x CD read
24x CD-R write
16x CD-RW write * SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW) is
8x DVD read
4x DVD-R write
24x CD read
16x CD-R write
8x CD-RW writeThen there's verbage that says the drives "support" DVD-Video, DVD-ROM and DVD-R. But in no place was I able to find anything about the drives being able to handle + media.
