The solution for Gaston is to connect the iMac (which I assume he is taking with him) to the 8500 via Ethernet. Either copy the info onto the 8500's internal drive, or set up the 8500 so that the external SCSI drive has permission to share. The iMac should then be able to see the SCSI drive via the 8500 and you can copy directly from it, essentially using the 8500 as a big SCSI-to-Ethernet converter.

Correct, the 8500 is gone now, stayed with the shop.... I may have to go the switch thingie, the information is important, unless I can find someone to transfer it for me.
I really appreciate the information so far, I need to make a couple of decisions....
