Subject: Silly question
I feel a bit silly asking this, but is it necessary to rebuild the desktop
on OS X as is done on OS 9 ?
My OS X manual doesn't even have this included as a topic.
It's not a silly question at all.
The answer is "no, it doesn't have to be done." But if you are having problems with files losing their icons, there ARE utilities out there that will "rebuild" the desktop database. Check macupdate.com or versiontracker.com.
