Hi,
I just bought a new iMac, and I've got an old PowerMac 7300 that I'm
trying to ethernet it to so that I can transfer some of my old files to
the new computer with ease, but I can't seem to be able to get the
computer to talk to each other, I've made sure that appletalk has
ethernet selected as it's default port to talk through, and file sharing
and program linking are both turned on, one computer is running OS 9.1
the other is running OS 9.2 not sure what other info to give out, any
thoughts, help would be much appreciated.
You've probably done everything right, Nathan, except for one last detail -- actually picking out a volume or folders you want to share!
Try this: "get info" on your hard drive on one of the machines. There's a pop-up button that probably says "general" or "memory." Change that to "sharing" and check the little checkbox that says "share this drive and its contents" (or something similar). Restart that machine.
Now see if that drive "shows up" when you connect to from the other machine.
