You are better off getting a new Mac. The prices are very cheap now.

My iMac DV 400 MHz (Purple) has been showing this problems:
Sometimes when it starts, the screen turns a reddish-purple hue, I have to restart and then it gets the color right. The DVD drive refuses to release the CDs or DVDs. It sounds like it is ejecting them, but the most that that shows is a sliver that can't get grabbed. Very frustrating, it now has my OS 9.2 CD stuck in it.
My questions: Is it economically viable to repair it? It has 512 Mb RAM and a 60 Gb HD. The DVD replacement is around $80. Can I get it for less? Where? Would the screen fail soon, as seen by the color shifts?
TIA
I found some documents on Apple about my stuck CD/DVD problem.
I can get the CDs/DVDs in or out of the iMac now.
However, my iMac has one problem, the top of the slot is kind of bowing down, but the Apple documents only says that the bottom half is not correctly seated or something like that, and to contact an Authorized Repair Center.
Does anybody know how to fix this slight problem?
The color shift is very occasional, and I think this iMac is worth saving!
TIA
