From: Gaston Croteau <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Is this a pre curser to problems coming? Do I have a major problem....?should I worry? what do I do if it happens again? I'm a little paranoid at this point.....
Certainly I'd be doing a backup to another HD right now if I were you ...
Here's some things you can do to help prevent disaster:
1. Repair permissions (it sounds like you've already done this)
2. Start up the HD in single-user mode (that's holding cmd-s at startup) and typing /sbin/fsck -y at the prompt.*
*the command should be /sbin/fsck -f if you are using Panther in journaled mode. If you get a message that the hard drive has been modified, repeat the command until you get the message that it appears to be OK.
3. Buy a copy of DiskWarrior. I've yet to find anything better at rescuing hard drives that have problems.
and again, MAKE A BACKUP NOW.
