I presume you have checked to be sure your sound isn't on MUTE.

I only say that because I have found a number of different Macs with a 
number of different OS versions that have spontaniously muted
themselves. 
All too often when sound stops working out of the blue, I find that the 
Sound control panel now shows MUTE to be checked.

Very definitely have checked all possible software panels, and nothing
is on mute.  Have tried selecting and deselecting a number of time, but
no change.  
So, back to the original question, "Is there a sound board on a DV SE
slot loader?"  Can anyone point me to a tech manual that might provide
some info?
BTW, it is running 9.2.2.
