Hi iMacers, eMacers:
After my lengthy "FP iMac startup conundrum" on 11/29, I'll try to keep this one shorter. This is a companion question. I received the replacement RAM from Crucial and installed it today. Out of curiosity I booted from the "Apple Hardware Test" CD to see if it checked out okay, and got:
Invalid memory access at %SRR0: ae0c0108 %SRR1: 0c01086f
I won't go into all the details of what I did after this message but will tell you that I saw it more than once and was able to recreate the unresponsive black screen iMac that I originally wrote about. Because of this message the "Apple Hardware Test" CD will not proceed any further.
The RAM is currently in the iMac and seems to be working as expected...so far...but I expect that will change. Can anyone elaborate on what the above message means?
