I have used Macs since the LISA but have not been able to go to OS X because I've been using a PowerPC G-3 233 (Beige) Desktop w/160MB ram running OS 9.2.2.
I now have acquired a iMac 600 slot loader, with 256 MB ram, 40 Ghz HD, w/ OS 9.2.2 and am going to have to initialize the system on the computer because it was a university computer and software on it now has locked all control panels. I have OS X 10.1 software and installation instructions say partition the OS X system in lowest 8 Ghz or less partition. Should I install OS 9.2 first setting aside a partition for OS X 10.1 or what should I do? I most likely will go to Panther if I have no problems with 10.1.
