Actually, three: The 15" 700 Mhz, 15" 800 Mhz and the 17" 800Mhz all 
boot into OS9 and shipped that way for about a year after introduction 
at MWE in January of '02 . However, the 800 Mhz models shipped after 
February 4, 2003 and all iMacs thereafter did indeed lock out that 
ability.

Just out of curiosity, is there a hardware reason for this, or is it
forced obsolescence through a lack of drivers on the OS 9 disk, code in
the firmware, or something else?
