Correct, but also to clarify, I tested and was able to do this using an 
EXTERNAL CRT. My iMac's internal CRT is dead. So I can't say for sure if 
it would have let me do it if I was using the internal CRT (it might 
have, for all I know I get the same settings presented to me regardless 
of the fact that my internal CRT doesn't power up).

So all I can really say for sure is, OS X supports 640x480 (tried it 
using Panther), and that the iMac DV SE slot load's external video 
supports it as well (and then obviously my Acer 17" monitor does, but 
that was a given)
