strictly speaking this is true as everything you need to do can be
done from the command line in terminal, but fink makes the whole
process of downloading and installing open source software so much
easier. then again, i guess using unix isn't that hard once you get
into it a bit.
Strictly speaking, all you need to do is download X11 from
Apple and install it. No command line needed. They started
supporting it probably a year or so ago. Prior to that the
easiest way was to use Fink.
