Hello everyone. I have a imac 400. I really enjoy my machine. I recently
purchased a Phillips dvd burner. I have the driver disk, but am unsure of
how to add the burner. I did just plud it up and turned the imac on. It
recognized the device, but as a player. Could not get it pay the movie.
Please could anyone help. I am trapped in Microsoft country.

Thanks

Charles,

This is like the Abbott and Costello "Who's On First" skit (no I am not that
old).

I have been using the Macintosh since System 6.03 and I definetely know that
Classic is the same thing as OS 9. I almost fell off my chair with your
reply below. Also it is not hard to grasp in the least. Who wouldn't think
Classic and OS 9 aren't the same thing, when you click "Start Classic" you
can click the drop down arrow and see the OS 9 booting with all its
extensions and glory. You should have a little more confidence in the
listers before commenting.

So if you care to take another stab at my question or anyone else here goes:

When my mac is booted in 9 my printer shows up in the chooser and prints
great. When I boot the same mac in X and start Classic aka OS 9 it
disappears from the Chooser control panel.

Why?

Thanks,

MaxTek

This is because you have at least two valid OS 9 folders on the drive.
I've found a LOT of confused Mac owners who do this -- they think that
"Classic" and OS 9 are not the same thing. I know it's a little hard to
grasp, but think of "Classic" as a shell that allows OS 9 to run inside
OS X.
