I don't know about internal, but check the minimum requirements on the drive. I bought a Plextor cd/dvd-rw external last year, and apparently it needs an 800mhz processor minimum for the drive to work as a dvd burner on my 400mhz iMac, although it will play them and burn CDs. I wasn't able to get it to work on my new iBook either, with a 1.33mhz, and didn't spend much time troubleshooting since I got the super drive. I heard something about the DVD software being apple drives only compatible. Hopefully you'll get more input from someone who knows. kari
