i am looking for a retail version of os 9.04 that will install on an early
G4
i have a PCI mpeg encoder board that worked fine on os 9.04 but produces
clicks in the pcm track when used with 9.1 and higher.
thank you
While I am as loathe as anyone to toss perfectly good hardware, simply upgrading to Mac OS X and downloading any of the various utilities that can produce MPEG files (ffmpegX comes to mind) will eliminate the problem.
Should you wish to stay in OS 9, I can only suggest that you find a "Retail" CD-ROM of OS 9.04 (such things exist, I have one -- but no, I can't provide it to you, sorry) on Ebay or something similar. You could also try places like megamacs.com and smalldog.com, who sometimes have this item available for cheap.
