I want to download music from the internet, but I want
to do so without breaking the law. Apple's 99 cent per
song is too much.
Don't be ridiculous. You're paying more than that NOW.
What I want is a monthly charge for
unlimited downloads.
What you want is a fantasy. No service offers this -- they offer
TEMPORARY RENTAL of music for a flat fee (the minute you stop paying,
the music disappears).
The problem with Yahoo & Napster
is that they don't support Mac.
Thank goodness.
Some of the ones that
I have seen seem a bit shady.
Yes, some of them are thinly-disguised fronts for identity thieves.
Have fun with that.
They could sell your
personal info to the highest bidder and how do I know
if they are legal?
Oh, that's easy: if they are "selling" an unrestricted MP3 of
copyrighted music, it's illegal.
Look, here's your options:
1. Buy CDs at CD stores
2. Use iTunes to buy just the songs you like rather than entire
albums (saves a fortune)
3. Steal (exposes you to serious risk of litigation, to say nothing
of poor-quality tracks)
4. If you just want to listen to stuff you're not familiar with at
work or something, subscribe to emusic or live365.com or shoutcast
and enjoy plenty of music (that you don't get to keep permanently)
for a modest cost.
5. Buy an iPod, put your music on it, and tell the whole sorry music
world to go to hell. :)
