I've been wondering if any of you know of a program that will process
downloaded files and put them into certain folders according to
extension/type. I dont want or need a full blown download manager (im
fine with safari's download window), i just need something that sorts
the files.
What you're describing is a Folder Action. You basically attach a
"script" to a folder that says "if you receive a JPG, move it here;
if you receive a SIT, put it there," etc, and then designate this
folder to be your download central.
Automator (in Tiger) can help you with this, as can Applescript. Dig
around on Apple's support pages (or the Help command) to find out
more about Folder Actions.

Claiming that the Macintosh is inferior to Windows because most
people use Windows is like saying that all other restaurants are
inferior to McDonald's.
