AppleTalk doesn't work for sharing in Tiger, you have to use IP.
Crossover cable is required if you are hooking up two computers
together without a hub or switch. Go to Network pref pane on the
Tiger machine, find out the IP address (TCP/IP tab). On the OS9
machine, go to Chooser, and click on the connect via IP button
(don't remember exactly what it says). Type in the address of the
iMac and it should show up. To get to everything, connect as the
same user that is currently running on the iMac.
It dosen't? That is really screwed up. I guess I won't be upgrading
past Panther then. OS 9 can only use 1 IP address, IIRC, so if I use
it for file sharing, then I won't be able to connect to the internet
since the OS 9 machine is a Rev B iMac. I have to use dial-up with it
because I can't connect to my AirPort network to use my WiMax
connection.
