This isn't typical of most Apple machines, but is entirely typical of the icebook G3, which was an incredible piece of crap. Mine went through about the same set of repairs. There is a solution, however--if you machine is covered by Applecare, call up and give them a catalog of the problems you've had and request a replacement machine.
